From The Owner

Hello Celebs!!!

Welcome to Celebrity’s Essentials online store. We are so elated that you stopped by. First, my name is Alicia Robinson Cooper. I’m the founder and owner of Celebrity’s Essentials. I’m a wife and mother of three beautiful GOD- GIVEN children (Celebrity Elise 22, Chad Il 21, & Caleb Ethan, 15) of whom I’m extremely in love with. ♥️♥️♥️ Proudly, I’m originally from the south but I now live in Brooklyn, NY with my family. I am what you call a “Southern Girl” living in a "Northern World.”

My Skin Care Beginnings

Early on in life skin and hair care was a priority in our household. My mother always made sure my sister Rosalind and I’s skin were ABUNDANTLY (and I mean ABUNDANTLY) immersed with some type of oil every night before bed and every morning before leaving the house for school. Petroleum jelly was the base used for all her skin and hair care concoctions. It was like every other month she made a new product for our skin and hair. You see, back in the day there were not too many (if at all) skin/hair care products on the local store shelves for  African Americans, therefore, most times Mama would create her own. She would mix two and three assorted products together just for our skin and hair to meet their greatest potential. To Mama’s credit, her creations yielded remarkable results, and luckily, we never had any allergic reactions from her homemade essentials. Although, I must mention the smell from the “anointed” olive oil, which every African American Pentecostal household possessed, of which brand I shall not name, was not that pleasing to say the least. Yes… she used that too! Ohhh the fond memories…. even to this day I can vividly see Mama in my mind mixing ingredients and aggressively placing them on our brown skin. Petroleum jelly with lotion ensured a radiant “greasy” glow lol. You see, NOBODY and I mean NOBODY was EVER going to talk about Rutha Mae’s African American girls having dry and ashy skin. It was her mission to ensure that we were shinning from head to toe and boy did she accomplish her goal…. and yes, to this day she’s still mixing! Thank you Mama…. Job well done ♥️

My Skin Care Journey

After leaving home for college, I started buying my own skin care products. Even by the time I was twenty years old skin care products were not heavily available for the black consumer. My encounters included “great oil's” but too lightly scented or vice versa. To add, some lotions were thick but just did not have the sustainable moisture needed for black skin. Soon I found myself making my own concoctions just like Mama. I would mix two or three brands just to get the right feel or the right scent for me. Eleven years later my daughter Celebrity was born with signs of eczema and small dry patches on parts of her skin. For me, Eczema was a word I knew nothing about because I always had normal skin. Undoubtably, as a mom I was petrified because I did not want my baby to have dry patches anywhere on her body. Neither did I want the African American street committee saying Alicia’s girl was ashy and dry. Trust me, having ashy skin was a big deal (in a bad way) in my parts. It was a sure indicator to some that you were’ unkept’ and I did not desire any negative connotations concerning our skins upkeep coming for me and mine. Therefore, to treat my daughter’s skin issues, her pediatrician prescribed various ointments and a steroid cream that really did not work and could have possibly caused unwanted side effects. Immediately, I intensively did research on home remedies for eczema and dry skin and later completed skin care classes as well on proper skin care formulations for natural products. Cold pressed oils, healing lotions and a few essential oils were products that created my first skin care success story. In fact for years, Celebrity had no signs of dry skin or eczema until we moved to New York. Unfortunately, due to a few harsh winters not only was Celebrity’s skin having its challenges, so were my son Caleb and I. Sadly, for the first time in my life my skin was drying and felt rough. I tried every lotion and oil on the market but nothing worked. Then one day my daughter reminded me of the times I’d made my own products for them and their effectiveness. I immediately bought a container of shea butter, jojoba oil,  coconut oil and cocoa butter, then added a few essential oils and voila, we were back on the road to beautiful, moisturized skin. Since then, I have handcrafted body butter cremes using shea, mango and cocoa butters and produced other skin care products such as, body scrubs, salves and body oils that smell absolutely delicious, for family and friends with amazing testimonials.

Ultimately, Celebrity’s Essentials was born out of a labor of love. Our products strive to be more than the conventional skin care accessory, but an overall skin-maintenance tool for the body. Due to its homeopathic ingredients our products act as an healing agent while battling skin conditions such as: psoriasis, dry skin, acne, and eczema. The word Celebrity means “one who is celebrated.” Hence, our mantra, “For skin that’s sure to be celebrated try Celebrity’s Essentials.” Trust me, because we use high quality organic products, if you are diligent and consistent with the use of our brand, you will definitely experience amazing results that will cause you and others to compliment and celebrate your glowingly soft, supple, and renewed skin.
